Description

Today, I'm tired. I'm starting to feel the months' trip. Making one's way from city to city alone can get exhausting. I've been in ten cities in 24 days.... Yes, I know - it's a 2-hour lunch kind of problem.

The romance of travel is strange it starts off as full-on excitement and infatuation - you fall in love with everything - every sight is photo worthy, every second is poetic, every inconvenience is an adventure.

But, like all romances, the novelty wears off. What remains is familiar. You’re still grateful. You’re still in awe. But the relationship cools. The thrill becomes calmer. My camera has been packed away for the last week.

I'm back in the same hotel I started this trip in - the iconic Leela Mumbai. I have to end the trip on a high note. Staying in a mediocre Airbnb wouldn't feel right. Not after everything - the chaos, the movement, the upheaval.

The view from my window does not overlook the street as it did when I first arrived. Now, I gaze onto the pool area - a beautiful pristine area - blue water, fluffy towels, tan tourists. I could be anywhere.

It feels perfect. I'm not coming in hot. No, it's a gentle touchdown - feet first.

The journey’s been wild. I’ve seen slums and five-stars, eaten with my fingers and fine cutlery, taken planes and tuk-tuks, laughed, cried, overpaid, underpaid, been sick, tired, healthy, made friends, made memories, been lost, been in awe. But I've never once been scared.
